BIO
I’m Vig Mayol, an Argentine artist based between Buenos Aires and Sarasota, Florida.
I paint the moments that almost disappear before we notice them, a reflection on the water, the warmth of late afternoon light, someone diving into a pool, an invented landscape that combines pieces of different scenes.
I’m interested in the way memory edits what we see. We rarely remember a place exactly as it was; we remember fragments, colors, sensations. My paintings grow from that space, somewhere between observation and memory, where images begin to soften and change.
I work with acrylic, oil pastel, collage, and layered washes, I build paintings that move between abstraction and representation, where memory becomes as important as observation.
I studied Visual Arts in Buenos Aires and have taught painting at severals institutions in Florida, including the Sarasota Art Museum.
Today my work is represented by galleries across the United States and lives in private collections around the world.
